Saint Louis de Montfort

April 28th is the feast day of Saint Louis deMontfort, co-founder of the Daughters of Wisdom in 1703.  The following excerpt is from his Cantique #23 on the practice of silence:

“Practice silence.

Be sparing of your words

And generous in your silence.
Then, speak the truth.”

Poem in Your Pocket

April 26 is "Poem In Your Pocket Day."

The Academy of American Poets suggests simple ideas on how you can celebrate the day.

Select a poem you love, carry it with you and share it with co-workers and friends on Poem In Your Pocket Day. Or, you can:

 1) Post it on your blog.

 2) If you are a teacher, reward students "caught" with a poem in their pocket.

 3) If you are a local business owner, offer discounts for those carrying poems.

 4) Add a poem to your email footer.

The Cross of Jesus

When nailed to the Cross,

Jesus embraced it as a lover embraces a beloved,

and in so doing freed it to be     

not what it was

But what He was:  Wisdom's love for the world.

Befriending Jesus

While many worship Jesus, few befriend Him.

To be His friend is to share His cup, and to suffer His fate.

Just as Eternal Wisdom infused earth with heaven through Her suffering as Jesus, so His friends reveal the Kingdom's peace by confronting the Empire's violence, and suffering the consequences.
