Irish Wedding Cake Demonstration Class

 

On March 3, participants in the cooking demonstration class given by Wisdom House's Head Chef Margaret Jacobs quickly learned some new techniques for decorating cakes for this special occasion.

The next cooking demonstration class will take place on Tuesday, April 14, from 6-7:30 p.m. and will be about preparing a leg of lamb. Creamy polenta will complement this Spring favorite dish and steamed asparagus will satisfy even gluten free diets! To register go to www.wisdomhouse.org.

Total Wellness

 

Looking holistically at the overarching theme of wellness, Wisdom House sponsored two programs in early March: "The Art and Practice of Forgiveness," facilitated by Rev. Eileen Epperson, and "Moving Through Stress: A Mind/Body Approach to Balance and Wellness," led by dance-movement therapist and wellness educator, Judith Erhman-Shapiro.

Young Entrepreneurs Mentoring Program

Rosemarie Greco, DW, was invited to be a mentor for Wamogo H.S. student Phillip Koenig in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) of the University of Rochester. The program is offered through the Chamber of Commerce of Northwest Connecticut and meets at Northwestern Community College in Winsted, CT.

Phillip Koenig is a 13-year-old student at Wamogo High School near Litchfield, CT.  He has developed a business plan to sell T-shirts in order to buy animal toys, blankets, and towels to ship to various animal shelters and pounds around the USA. His motto is "Have a heart and donate!"

"I Have Family in Iraq"

Recently a group of Dominican Sisters from the United States traveled to Iraq to give support to members of the Dominican Family there who are living and ministering in the midst of that war-torn country. The sisterly support to them personally and in their ministry meant a great deal to both groups.
