Connecticut Cultural Heritage Arts Program

Recently, Sr. Jo-Ann Iannotti, OP, interviewed Lynne Williamson, Director of the Connecticut Cultural Heritage Arts Program, for the radio program, "Rich Answers" which airs on WRCH 100.5 FM on Sunday mornings from 5:30 - 6:30 am.  The program is sponsored by The Conference of Churches in Hartford.

Ms. Williamson spoke of the statewide folk and traditional arts programs which strive to preserve, share, and pass on the traditional art forms integral to the various cultures represented by the people of Connecticut.

Hope: Light in Time of Darkness

An article by clinical psychologist Mary Elizabeth Kenel, PhD offers a way to move from disillusionment toward hopeful living. Dr. Kenel says, “Maintaining an unrealistically sunny outlook rooted in denial…is not true hope. Instead, what is needed is the development of a frame of mind that balances a positive view of the future with the reality that all life contains elements of darkness, be it sadness, frustration or pain.”

Openness to change is essential; hopelessness actively resists change.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Rev. Susan Izard (left), Minister of Spiritual Life at the First Church of Christ Congregational in West Hartford, shared the special ministry called "Prayer Shawl Ministry" with Sr. Jo-Ann Iannotti, OP (right) recently during an interview for "Rich Answers," a radio program sponsored by The Conference of Churches in Hartford. It is aired every Sunday morning on WRCH 100.5 FM from 5:30 -6:30 am.

The shawls are knitted as prayers for individuals to experience the love of God through the craft work of those who knit them. They are given as signs of the concern of other community members.
