Stone Soup and Bread: Perfect Pairings from Creation to Completion

On September 10 and 11, Wisdom House sponsored a unique program titled, "Stone Soup and Bread: Perfect Pairings from Creation to Completion." The programs were attended by more than 30 persons who met in the Farm House at Wisdom House for an evening of culinary delights which enlightened their minds and spirits! The program was presented by Michael Ackerman, chef and owner of The Pantry restaurant in Washington, CT and Mother Catarina Boyer, OSB, educator and baker who is a member of the community of Our Lady of the Rock Priory, Shaw Island, Washington.

The purpose of the program was to engage the participants in understanding how all of creation comes to completion in a unique way in the food we eat. The taste of the grapes which make wine are affected by the land from which they are grown. The vegetables and fruits we eat have their unique tastes because of the soil in which they are cultivated, etc. Their lives come to completion on our dining room tables, kitchen tables and, most especially, in our very selves!
