An 80 year old tree at Wisdom House had to be taken down
due to its decayed interior.
I've learned that tree wounds that start with an injury
or a break in the tree bark expose the underlying wood to bacteria and
fungi. The tree often produces a
chemical to block the invasion of these microorganisms in an attempt to seal off
damage, but this is not always successful.
Blessed be our trees and all living beings who live with wounds and bear them with courage.
